With the New Year resolutions in place, healthy eating may be on your list as well. And in the midst of hurrying and scurrying from one place to the next sometimes it’s hard to find grab and go snacks for eating on the run or for packing in a quick lunch.
Good Health Natural Foods, parent company of SpaNaturals and headquartered here in Greensboro, NC offered up a few of their best selling snacks for the TGS staff to try. All in all, the snacks were really good and a great option to the conventional chip or crunchy snack. Passing the test, Good Health Snacks are available at health conscious grocery stores such as EarthFare, Whole Foods, and The Fresh Market. Plus many traditional retailers like Walgreens, Publix and Safeway as well as online at Amazon and Drugstore.com.
Avocado Oil Potato Chips
I wasn’t sure how I would like these chips but surprisingly enough they were quite tasty and not quite as hard
or other kettle chips. I tried the simple sea salt variety and though I couldn’t taste the avocado, according to the Good Health site, avocado oil is revolutionizing the potato chip industry as a healthy alternative to conventional cooking oils. It contains a high concentration of vitamins and minerals, along with monounsaturated fats that help reduce LDL cholesterol. Good Health has developed proprietary technology to kettle cook potato chips with avocado oil without transferring high fat content resulting in 30% less fat. Other flavors include Chilean Lime and Barbeque.
Yummy! I love sweet potatoes and this is a great little crunchy and sweet snack. North Carolina is the largest producer of sweet potatoes and Glories are lightly seasoned and again kettle cooked but not too hard. Containing no trans fats and low sodium these GMO free and gluten free crunchy chips make the family A-list.
Half Naked Popcorn with hint of olive oil
Though I am not a huge fan of any kind of pre-popped popcorn in a bag, this wasn’t so bad. And with only 3 grams of fat versus 10 grams for other popcorn, that made it even better.
Interestingly enough at the BlogHer Green Affair in New York last August - which was done in a carnival theme – the hotel selected Good Health’s organic version of popcorn to serve. (I couldn’t resist the photo opp courtesy of event organizer, Green and Clean Mom). Though sourced from organic farms, I personally preferred the half naked variety.
Humbles Baked Hummus Chips
Humbles® chips are are made from hummus – which is made from the humble chick pea. Baked to a crispy-crunchy golden brown, with only 4 or 4.5 grams of fat per serving (and no trans fat) this is a delicious and healthy alternative. I tried the Olive Oil, Lemon & Feta and loved it and the Roasted Red Pepper and Sesame Garlic also sound great and look forward to trying those flavors out too.
Veggie Stix
The Veggie Stix are made with potatoes, tomatoes and spinach, pure sea salt and non-hydrogenated oils. That
means 0 grams of trans fat and the chips have 30% less overall fat than regular chips. A good crunchy taste and light on the belly, Veggie Stix make another great snack or side option.
To give an example of cost, a 5 oz bag of Avocado Oil chips is around $3.19 and 7 oz bag of Veggie Stix about $3.99 at EarthFare. Though slightly more compared to $3.99 for an 11 oz bag from a commercial brand, at least you can pronounce all the ingredients and that’s worth something!
But it doesn’t stop here, Good Health offers many more varieties and products. Easy to get, here’s a list of retail locations. Have you tried Good Health Natural Foods? What do you think?

Where can I find the peanut butter pretzel snack in the Dallas, TX area? I live in Mesquite, a suburb of Dallas.
This is a great snack, and I would like to be able to buy it locally.
Here’s a link to all of their retail locations. Perhaps one in your area like a Walgreens or RiteAid? http://bit.ly/ny2E0J You will see you can also submit a retailer you would buy from. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by!
