Kick the Habit – Seven Steps to becoming P & P Free – Step 4 + Giveaway!

by Jeanne on January 30, 2010

So far we’ve reviewed the first three steps – Acknowledge, Recognize and Purchase. This next step is probably the most important of all and where many often give up in frustration and fall off the wagon.

4. Take it one trip at a time. During this critical step, you need to understand that there are several phases to master in order to completely attain environmental consciousness.

  • Phase I: After successfully purchasing your bags, you will begin by leaving them at home for the first few trips.
  • Phase II: Once you master this phase and remember to take them with you in the car, it will not be until you are asked for paper or plastic Bagnesiaduring checkout that you realize you forgot to bring them into the store.  Similar to amnesia, there are tools to help you along – check out Bagnesia for a useful reminder kit.  This great kit includes a nylon bag, door hanger and steering wheel grip. With tools like that you can’t forget. Leave a comment below or send me a tweet @greensamaritanI need a Bagnesia kit for your chance to win compliments of Pam at Bagnesia.
  • Phase III: After this painful phase is overcome, you will remember to bring your bags with you but might find out that you do not have enough.  We are a family of four and I need at least 4-5 large bags for my grocery trips, – they are durable and I load them up, unlike a plastic bag. I also carry two smaller ones in my handbag.
  • Phase IV: Finally, you will be well prepared and it will be second nature to have them with you at all times wherever you go and for whatever you need.

Remember knowledge is power, so being equipped with what you might encounter as you detox from plastic will make the transition that much easier.  Join us for our final post in this series as Steps, 5, 6 and 7 are reviewed plus a final giveaway to keep you organized. Plus don’t forget to leave a comment or send a tweet for a chance to win a Bagnesia Reminder kit (US Residents only).
