Using gift bags is an excellent alternative to wrapping paper. Seeing the huge piles of it at friends houses really irritates me because it is such a waste of paper (not to mention money). I would also suggest buying a xmas decoration collection you can reuse year after year. Again, I know a few people who buy decorations every christmas, what a waste! Alternative festive lighting would be another tip. Using either less xmas lights or low energy alternatives.
